The
Kestrel Environmental Control Centre enables you to automatically
keep a constant and watchful eye over the status of your office
or computer room environment.
Kestrel
can automatically monitor any type of office condition, using sensors
to check on temperature, humidity, noise etc. By using an uninterruptable
power supply, Kestrel can even detect and warn you about Power Cuts!
With
Kestrel, it is easy to define acceptable and unacceptable levels
for the conditions you wish to monitor. Kestrel then keeps a check
and will warn you if the condition ever becomes unacceptable. Using
the standard options, Kestrel can inform you by playing a message
on one or more PCs around your network, by sending you a specific
e-mail, or by issuing a broadcast message to everyone on the network.
However,
the full power of Kestrel becomes unleashed when you combine the
Environmental Control Centre with the optional "Telephony Module",
which links the software module with your telephone system. With
this option in place, Kestrel can monitor your office environment
and in the event of an unacceptable condition, it can detect the
time of day, and if during office hours, it can inform you at your
workplace, but outside of office hours it can ring you up at home
and play one of any number of pre-recorded message to tell you about
the problem. Kestrel can then act in a number of different ways,
depending on the keys you press on your telephone at home!
Similarly,
Kestrel can react if you ring into the system from home and can
provide you with information, depending on the instructions you
provide.
A
better understanding of the true power of Kestrel can be achieved
from the following example scenario:
The
Environmental Control Module is monitoring the temperature of the
computer room and detects an increase in temperature to a warning
condition level. In this case, if it is during normal office hours,
it informs the computer manager, otherwise it ignores it. If the
temperature continues to rise, and reaches an unacceptable level,
then Kestrel will inform the Computer Manager and will ring him
up at home if necessary. He will be given the option to close down
the computer, or start to transfer key information from the production
computer to the backup computer in the regional office. He can choose
an option from his telephone keypad. Depending on his answer, Kestrel
will perform a number of tasks, which may include initiating data
file transfers, logging a call to the air-conditioning service company
and calling the fire brigade!
Prices
for the Environmental Control Centre will vary, depending on your
